Explore Wilmington

Twenty minutes to almost everything.

Wilmington welcomed nearly 5 million visitors and saw $1.14 billion in visitor spending in 2024. The reason is what's within a half-tank: world-class beaches, the Battleship, a riverwalk USA Today named one of America's best, gardens, museums, and a film history that put Wilmington on every kid's screen.

The Beaches

Four beach trips, four different vibes.

From Wrightsville's surf to Carolina Beach's boardwalk to Topsail's quiet stretches, the coast around Wilmington has a beach for every kind of family day.

Wrightsville Beach

The big one. Hard-packed sand for biking, world-class surf, paddleboard rentals on every block, and a casual beach-restaurant scene. The pier at the south end is the family photo. Free parking is tight on summer weekends — plan to be there before 10am or after 4pm.

Classic NC beach town. Boardwalk with rides, donuts at Britt's, and a more laid-back vibe than Wrightsville. Carolina Beach State Park next door for a hike-then-beach combo day.
